Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is built upon Return to Castle Wolfenstein which is built upon Quake III Arena, so the colour coding for names is exactly the same across all games. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was a bit of an outlier, from what I remember of its launch. This is easily the best and suggested way to actually play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory now, as ET: Legacy comes with a ton of improvements over the original while keeping the gameplay intact.
